I’ve been aiming to make my website a habitable part of the internet for some time now. looking back as far as I can, I find examples of how long that’s been the case.
the IndieWeb has been on my mind since 2019, but only recently did I free up enough time and mental space to make it a real priority.
my personal website—up under this domain since 2015—existed from the get-go as a professional destination. over the years, it became all about Them—clients, reporters, conference organisers—until no trace of myself remained. once I underwent an Identity Revolution, visiting it started feeling like flipping through an 80s Sears catalogue: informative, sure, but not at all relatable. I’ve become a stranger in my own land.
as part of the Perfectionism Rebellion, I purposely left it in varying stages of disrepair for the past two years. when movies tell tales of being trapped in a loveless marriage with a stranger, my relationship with this site is what makes that narrative relatable.
there are just over 13 weeks left before the end of 2026, and with that, less than 100 days. it’s pretty ironic that, almost immediately after congratulating myself while reviewing a 2021 post about how much my priority-ambitions had downscaled over the past five years (an active goal, and I’m killing it 🎉), I’d jump right back on the wagon of the overly ambitious.
that said, nothing is more motivating than just getting stuck in and doing it. to inhabit is to live in, so the question isn’t whether I can publish 100 posts in 92 days, but whether I’d like to. do I want to move in? that’s what matters. not the achievement of it, but the intention. thus, with full permission to stop short of 100 posts by the time Dec 31st swings by, here’s to showing up as often as possible to put the P in personal website!
I didn’t have the self-assurance to write this until I managed to knock off three posts in a day (shoutout to Naty for the permission-inspo that you don’t need a blog post make when a Note will do!), but since I now get to say that I’m already 4% into my target post count, where four lives, so can one hundred 🔥
I’ll close with an evergreen reminder from 100 Days To Offload HQ:
“Posts don’t need to be long-form, deep, meaningful, or even that well written. If there are spelling and grammar mistakes, or even if there’s no real point to the post, so what? What’s important is that you’re writing about the things you want to write about.
[…]
Just. Write.”
